Green Initiatives
HI’s environmental philosophy is to give back to the community, through implementation and preservation of green space, and energy-saving building systems. We strive to conserve natural resources, use more renewable energy and cut waste production. We concentrate on including urban revitalization and improvements in the environmental and social attributes of each of our individual developments.
Green Initiatives:
- All buildings have incorporated energy-efficient technologies designed to comply with LEED requirements.
- Over 2,000 trees planted throughout the district of Harwood.
- 2 million square feet of lights have been retro-fitted to higher efficiency bulbs.
- All office buildings have bike racks as part of the initiative to promote “Walk to Life.”
- 6.5 acres of land in the district of Harwood is devoted to landscaped gardens, elaborate green roofs, and public green spaces.
- Reassurance Program includes wider and well-lit sidewalks to increase walk-ability.
HI’s innovative design and engineering result in the construction of the most energy efficient office buildings in the country. Beyond the benefits of reduced energy costs, the ability to control temperature on a zone-by-zone basis affords tenants the control to regulate their workspace, including remote activation of heating and cooling systems by cell phone.
